Sodium Formate in Delhi
Sodium Formate ($HCOONa$) is extensively used in the textile dyeing, leather, and construction chemical industries of Delhi-NCR. It acts as an efficient masking agent in chemical processing and a pH stabilizer in the dyeing of high-quality fabrics and garments in the Okhla and Noida clusters. In the construction sector, it serves as a chloride-free setting accelerator for concrete, ensuring the structural integrity of flyovers and high-rise buildings without the risk of steel reinforcement corrosion in Delhi's urban environment.
Major Applications:
1. Leather industry as tanning agent
2. Oil Drilling field / Oilfield chemicals : In exploratory drilling, high-density saturated sodium formate solution can enhance machines’ high-temperature resistance, prevent rust and exhibit microbial degradation functions. The use of sodium formate helps stabilize the rock layer and reduce the impact on the soil environment during oil explorations.
3. As a de-icer on airport runways due to its effectiveness and less contamination than Salt. It melts the ice rapidly without damaging the asphalt
